Shelter

Leaving situations involving violence is a very scary time. We are committed to providing a safe and secure place for those that are fleeing a violent situation. We shelter victims and their children of domestic violence for a temporary period of time while they are looking for a new, safe place to live. Families with male children 15 years of age and under are able to stay in the shelter. Families with male children over the age of 15 or males over the age of 18 who are themselves victims of domestic violence will be offered alternative accommodations.

Safe Harbor shelter is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. The shelter is equipped with video cameras, and an alarm system that allow us direct contact to police dispatch. All client information that is shared with Safe Harbor staff is kept confidential.

While someone is staying with us we provide food, laundry facilities, and personal advocacy. We do our best to help our clients find safe living arrangements, a job if needed, obtain a protection order if needed and resources to pay for their deposit, first months rent and obtain household furnishings. Our goal is to always ensure that our clients feel comfortable and safe while staying with us.
