How do I know if Kids Konnection services are for my family and I?

What is the difference between a visit and an exchange?

A visit involves parents and children spending time together at Kids Konnection with your children. Visits are monitored by staff and video recorded. The length of a visit depends on your family situation and need. Visit services allow parents to avoid coming on contact with one another.

An exchange involves custodial and non-custodial parents exchanging their children for visits which do not take place at Kids Konnection. Staff facilitate the exchange of the children between parents. Exchange services allow parents to avoid coming in contact with one another.

Types of services at Kids Konnection

Visits at Kids Konnection

Full Direct Monitoring. The monitor remains in the rom with the parent and the child(ren).

Full Video Monitoring. The monitor observes the visit via closed circuit television. The visit is video recorded.

Telephone Contact Monitoring. For visitations at a distance, monitored telephone contact is provided.

Exchanges at Kids Konnection

Exchange. The monitor facilitates the exchange of the children between custodial and non-custodial parents or guardians. Allowing them to avoid direct contact with one another.

When you come to Kids Konnection you will be greeted by trained staff who will treat you with respect. You will be let into the building via an intercom/door access. You will go through a metal detector as you come in the door. This is to ensure the safety of children and adults who use services at Kids Konnection. There are established guidelines and time boundaries that you will learn during an initial intake appointment. If you have questions about services or any part of the process, please do not hesitate to ask staff.

How do I begin using Kids Konnection Services?

If you are interested in using Kids Konnection services call (605-226-1212) to set up an intake appointment. This is the first step in the process. Once this has been completed, staff will schedule a visit or exchange times with you and your family.

Do I have to pay for services?

Kids Konnection charges a fee per hour based on income. You will learn about the fee during your intake appointment.
