2012 Safe Harbor Mardi Gras Gala is Almost Here!

Please join us for a night of fine Cajun cuisine, drinks, music and laughs all in support of our Safe Harbor Foundation. This is very important event for our Foundation each year so come join us and help support a great organization in your community all while having a great time.

Date: February 25th, 2012

Time: 5:30 pm Social, 7:00 pm Dinner

Location: Ramkota Convention Center

With special guest Ron Parker and SoulDrive.

This year we will have a four-course meal with Paul serving his famous "Spanish-tinis" all evening.

Course 1: Blue Crab Cake with Corn Maque Choux and Remolulade Slaw

Course 2: Frisee Salad with Oranges, Cayenne Spiced Pecans, Farmers Cheese, Shaved Red Onions and Pecan Vinaigrette

Course 3: Blackened Beef Tenderloin with Tasso Seared Shrimp, Truffled Mashed Potatoes, Haricot Verts, Port Wine Reduction, Bearnaise, and Sweet Potato Gaufrette

Course 4: Banana Beignets Lollipops with Rum Caramel and Chicory Angalise

The existence of the Safe Harbor Foundation helps to insure the future of Safe Harbor and the programs it provides. The Foundation’s continued growth allows Safe Harbor to be less reliant on decreasing government funding and other programs. In the past, we have turned to area individuals and businesses for additional financial assistance in order to continue to assist Safe Harbor in meeting the needs of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout northeast South Dakota. Your support and generosity will not only heighten the elegance of the gala, but also benefit those less fortunate who truly need and appreciate your efforts. Our organization could not be as successful as it is without the support of so many people. We are once again in need and we ask our amazing community to think of us during this holiday season. Christmas Tree Removal This Weekend - Jan. 8th

Need someone to haul your Christmas tree following the holiday season?

Safe Harbor will be hauling trees on Saturday Jan. 8th from 9am -1pm.

Call (226-1212) or contact us to arrange a pick-up.

Cost will be $20 per tree or $10 per tree with a donation of non-perishable food items or paper products.

All proceeds collected assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

There are only two days left so please remember Safe Harbor when you are making a decision for a tax deductible gift. Safe Harbor serves members of your community including Brown, Campbell, Day, Edmunds, Marshall, McPherson, and Potter.

Safe Harbor provides services for victims of domestic violence, rape, stalking, and bullying. We believe that no one should live in fear for their safety and we hope that you will support our efforts in assisting those that do.

In 2009 Safe Harbor assisted:

353 victims of domestic violence, stalking, bullying, and rape. 287 people in Brown County; 3 in Day County; 7 in Edmunds County; 5 in Marshall County; 6 in McPherson County; and 45 from other counties
37 women; 3 men; and 26 children stayed in shelter for a total of 1,850 shelter days; with an average stay of 22 days
94 Temporary Protection Orders
A total of 757 client contacts

In 2010 Safe Harbor provided 244 Food Boxes, for 156 families, consisting of 448 people.

Mardi Gras 2011 Date Announced

The annual Mardi Gras fundraiser for Safe Harbor will be held February 26th at the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center (see details below). We had a fantastic response from those that attended last year so we're bringing back all the fan favorites. The band Vermillion will be performing again and we'll also be feature some fantastic Cajun cuisine once again. Maybe we can talk Paul into coming back to serve up great drinks again as well. Stay tuned for further details.

Take Back the Night 5K Run/1 Mile Walk

Safe Harbor 'Takes Back the Night' with a 5K run and a 1 mile walk.

Munchkin Fun Run in partnership with the Child Protection Team.

We are collaborating with Child Protection Services because April is also Child Protection Awareness month, so for the kids doing the munchkin run we will give them pinwheels since that is the representation for preventing child abuse.

Also a special appearance by the Berenstain Bears.

It's that time of year again for the annual Mardi Gras Gala. This is our primary fund-raising event each year. It's always an entertaining, rewarding evening and we invite everyone to attend.

The event begins with a Social and continues with a dinner featuring Cajun Cuisine. The entertainment for the evening will be the musical group Vermillion.
